Mom's Magazines
Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 02:34PM Well I'm back. From here:

or, looking down river through giant live oaks in the corner of the yard...here:

It was mostly sunny, and in the 80s during the day. Dad, in his Canadian Tuxedo, frying turkey for the non-vegetarians:

I should have taken better pics of the beauty of Florida's "Nature Coast", but I was too busy relaxing! And, reading Mom's magazines. Let's discuss how Coastal Living, and even Southern Living, have little gems in them from time to time...and Mom seems to think that Southern Living in particular is trying to reach a younger audience. First, Coastal Living from this December, the home of a young CA family:

I think this rug really sealed the deal for me. I'm such a pattern and color girl.

This guestroom fuels that love, with the totally unexpected color story going on here, which, now that I think about it, isn't all that unexpected- just a punchier version of what's happening in the rest of the house.

Are you catching the view from the breakfast area? That's all Pacific, those lucky...

And of course, a playroom & kid friendly outdoor areas. Outdoor Shower- on my must-have list for the dream house...

Ok, now November's Southern Living, which, somewhat irritatingly, does not generally have enough photos per story/profile. But this home of a VA couple kinda sparked my interest...
A small, "Martha approved" kitchen that appears to work...please note in the included editorial that "Ryan is the meat expert".

But oddly, the mudroom is doing something nice for me. Love the built-ins, love the low kid friendly coat rack.

And then this office. Genius mirror placement takes fantastic windows and doubles them.

There were lots of other here and there things that I took note of in these mags, so I'm just suggesting that if you're in the Drs office and you see one of these, pick it up. The homes come from a very attainable place that some of our other favorite mags don't.
