Things to consider. First edition, 2011.

Sounds official. Actually I am quite irritated just now because I had some fantastic images I wanted to scan for you all but the old scanner is not working with the new laptop. So let's look at what we DO have, ok?

Have you noticed this trend towards very graphic art in interiors? I mean really it's not new, but it seems to be a fairly consistent sighting lately. I think Anna Spiro did a post about this. Here, black and white:

Hotel Pulitzer, Rome

Dining. Lately I have been into big gracious elegant and simply dressed tables:

I happen to know of a place with shelves teeming with old bentwood chairs. It is taking every fiber of my being to not go and buy all of them....

I love the surprisingly modern art arrangement in a room of antiques and original architectural details:

I know the cabinets are great, but can I just admire the light fixture:

tile it:

I'm not really into what I would call "glam" interiors but I do like the way this floor to ceiling mirror peaks out under the lucite (assuming it's not glass?) console. Note little sconce with grey shade:

Ok, now let's talk. This I don't get. On first glance I thought "pretty", but it looks so labored and "placed", I can't handle it. My personal goal for 2011 is to cultivate an "effortless" feel about my home. This is not it:

What do you all think? Yay or Nay?

And, for some color, I think this room is cozy town. Individually, I am not liking the fabric choices (ottoman, you can stay), but the overall feel of the space is mighty nice. Maybe it's just that red in there? And I love the stripe of detail in the molding.

I hope 2011 brings new ideas and inspiration for all of us. I'm looking forward to what the new mags (online and print) are going to come up with this year... ready to be blown away! Let's have it!
